Heating chamber and extraction

How to heat the chamber / Use the extraction

The machine is equipped with heating modules and allowing filtered extraction for PLA prints for example. Each module is independent but operates at the same time as the others (parallel control). Each module has its own filters and its own ventilation and heating system.

The activation of heating or extraction is carried out through macros directly present in the Duet board.

There are 3 macros allowing you to manage heating or ventilation:

This macro allows, at the end of the printing cycle, to extract the machine in order to rapidly reduce the temperature in the chamber.

It's a basic macro that lasts 5 minutes.

The heating is stopped, then the damper is turned off (therefore the ventilated air is extracted) and we wait 5 minutes before cutting the ventilation.

This macro activates the heating of the enclosure. the temperature setpoint on the screen is not active until the enclosure heating has been activated. In fact, its setpoint adjustment can only intervene when the heating has been activated and therefore it is on.

This macro rotates the damper so that the ventilated air comes out of the machine through the filters.

For ABS printing, it may be advisable, when the size of the part becomes important, to heat the enclosure in order to avoid tensions in the plastic and deformations on the final part.

For materials such as polycarbonates, heating the enclosure is essential.

When the enclosure temperature is activated, the door must be closed so that the heat is contained. During the tests carried out, at least one hour of temperature stabilization is required so that the mechanical elements expand correctly.

If the print bed adjustments were made with a different cabinet temperature than the one set, then they may no longer be good once stabilization has been done. They may need to be reviewed: Réglage de la planéité du plateau

MaterialTemperature
ABS 50-60°C
PETG 0-50°C
PLA 0°C
PC 70-80°C

All you have to do is run the EXTRACTION macro for ventilation to be activated and the damper to be rotated in the extraction direction.
